USMMA offers three distinct engineering majors, each designed to prepare you for leadership in the maritime industry and beyond.

Marine Engineering

An engineering program focused on shipboard engineering operations. You'll learn to manage and maintain the complex mechanical, electrical, and thermal systems that power the world's largest vessels.

Marine Engineering Systems

An engineering program emphasizing marine engineering design. This is where theory meets innovation — designing the next generation of propulsion, power, and environmental systems for the maritime industry.

ABET Accredited

Marine Engineering & Shipyard Management

A program based on a marine engineering core and emphasizing the management of shipyards and other large engineering endeavors. Combines technical depth with leadership and project management skills.

ABET Accredited

ABET Accreditation — Two of our programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, the gold standard for engineering education. An accredited degree is an excellent credential and can be a requirement at many employers.
